KINDERGARTEN GOES TO THE ZOO!

Thank you to all the parents who went with us to the zoo! It was a beautiful day and I think that the students all had a great time. This was a wonderful conclusion to our study of animals from A-Z. Please enjoy all the pictures below of our day to the zoo

We also celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday this week with lots of "apple fun!" We made applesauce, we sang a song with our Johnny Appleseed puppets, we watched a Johnny Appleseed movie, and wore a special hat in his honor. Here we are:

  • Our Vocabulary Parade will be on Friday, October 13th. You can read all about this special day on Mr. Riley's blog.
  • Our Pumpkin Patch field trip will be on Thursday, October 19th.
  • Our Fall Harvest party will be on Tuesday, October 31st.
We have completed the first nine weeks of kindergarten and now it is time for a brain break!
We pray that you have a safe and happy week off !

Blessings,

KINDERGARTEN IS FALLING FOR FALL!

WELCOME FALL!

Thank you to all parents for coming and meeting with us this past week for conferences. We enjoyed sitting down with you and sharing your child's progress, as well as, getting to know each of you a little better. It is important that we work together as a team in your child's education.

We will be testing next week for report cards. Below is a list of skills that will be tested:

Recognition of upper and lower case letters
Writing capital letters
Sight words
Recognition of numbers 1-10
Writing 1-10
Counting to 25
Recognition of 2D shapes
Sorting
Comparing objects (taller/shorter, heavier/lighter)

We will complete our study of animals from A-Z this week and take a field trip to the zoo on Friday, September 29th. We will be sending home a form on Monday for you, as a parent, to fill out if you will be going with us on Friday. We need lots of parents to help on this trip.

We sent home our first kindergarten project of the year this week. Please help your child turn this pumpkin into a "character pumpkin" and return to school on Monday. Be creative, google it. We are looking forward to seeing what great ideas you have come up with! These pumpkins will be put in "Our Patch" in the hallway.

For the month of September, we have been learning all about apples. We know the parts of an apple, how an apple tree looks in all four seasons, and have learned that a lot of things can be made from apples. This week, we will be celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday with some apple tasting and experiments.

SOME DATES TO REMEMBER:

October 2-6- Fall Break
October 12- Family Chapel

WE LOVE OUR GRANDPARENTS!!!

Kindergarten is rocking right along. We have been working hard reviewing all letters of the alphabet and numbers 1-10. We are learning the color words and our sight words. We are learning all about an animal for each letter and are quickly coming to the end of our study. We will be starting a unit on "All About Me." Your child will need to know their first, middle, and last name, birthday, address, phone number, and parent's first and last names.

Fall is coming! This week we will begin our study of apples in preparation to our trip to the Apple Orchard. The whole month of September will be spent doing apple activities and experiments.

This Friday, September 8th, is Grandparent's Day for the whole campus. We hope that each child will be able to have a Grandparent or a Parent with them on Friday. We will be spending the morning presenting a very special program to honor them. Your child will come to class as usual while Grandparents and Parents will attend a reception. Then Grandparents will sign their grandchild out of their classroom and may tour the school, classrooms and specialty classes. Then everyone will meet in the High School gym at 10:00 for a special time of worship in honor of the Grandparents. Children may be dismissed afterwards to spend the rest of the day with their Grandparents.

Dates to Remember:

September 8th-Grandparent's Day

September 14th- Apple Orchard Field Trip

September 19th (and times during that week)- Parent/Teacher Conferences

September 29th- Zoo Field Trip

October 2-6- Fall Break
